Remember and Respond
Saturday 20 March to Monday 22 March
An MMB event to commemorate and respond to the tragic deaths of those trying to cross borders.
In the Spring we will be organising an event to commemorate all those who have died trying to cross borders and to find a way to respond to this terrible ongoing loss of life. The event will take place around 21st March, the international day of Nowruz, also known as Persian New Year. Nowruz marks the vernal equinox – the first day of Spring – and is celebrated across the world as a new beginning. Families spring clean their house, buy flowers and gather around the Haft-sin table, laden with symbolic foods and objects, to await the exact moment of the equinox.
In the spirit of new growth and life that comes with Spring we are asking people to plant something in a pot or in the ground that will be emerging or flowering at the time of this event in late March. Please take a photograph of your planting and post it on our padlet here. We will ask you to take another photograph in the Spring. These pictures will be displayed at our Remember and Respond event.
